Career:

Aleigha A. Butler was born and raised in Gaffney, South Carolina.  She relocated to Georgia where she earned her Bachelors of Science in Computer Information Systems from DeVry University.  While attending DeVry University, she participated in a work study program for the DeKalb County Library System.  As a desk clerk, she was introduced to the art of writing and developed a desire to become an author.  She contracted for companies out of college such as Lucent Technologies, Bellsouth, and Vanstar.  She is currently employed by Bank of America as a Technical Coordinator.  She also volunteers her time as Vice President of Events for Team Bank of America’s Diversity Network.

Author:

Aleigha wrote A Learning Book Just For Me to assist parents in teaching their children Spanish at an early age. A Learning Book Just For Me evolved from Aleigha’s teachings to her child at age 2 (as a stay-at-home mom).  She decided to create a character by which the children could relate.  Her character is a cute Panda Bear named Precious.

Aleigha is also a contributing author of How I Met My Sweetheart.  It is a compilation of 18 authors sharing their stories of love, hope, and inspiration.  There are great depictions how they met their soul mates.

Organizations:

Aleigha is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators (SCBWI).  For three years, she has served as a mentor for ASAP (Alternative Solutions for Adolescents with Preventative Interventions), Inc.  She is an active member of the PTSA group of Dominion Stone Academy.

Literary Guest:

Aleigha supported ChildKind’s KidsFest 2006 event.  She appeared on the WTAL 1450 Talk Radio Show with some of the authors from How I Met My Sweetheart.  On WAEC LOVE 860AM Aleigha received radio recognition from the National Christian Chronicles.

Newspapers / Online Resources:

Aleigha was featured in the Rockdale Citizen on March 15, 2006 for her release of A Learning Book Just For Me.  She was also featured in the April 2006 edition of Booking Matters Magazine.  Both works (A Learning Book Just For Me and How I Met My Sweetheart) appeared on Peach Publishing Online Newsletter.

Awards/ Conference Coordinator:

Chick-Fil-A at Turner Hill Rd (owned by Tony and Leslie Royal) partnered with Aleigha for the release party for A Learning Book Just For Me. Aleigha was awarded the 2006 & 2007 President’s Volunteer Service Awards presented by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation for her volunteer hours and efforts. She attended the Latin American Association’s 18th Annual Compañeros Awards Luncheon in April 2007.  Aleigha organized the “2007 Writing & Networking Conference” held at CrossRoads Church in Conyers, GA.
